Once we have completed an MOT on your vehicle,  we will send you a reminder the following year. You can be fined up to £1000 for driving a vehicle without a valid MOT. You can get an MOT on your vehicle up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and still keep the same renewal date. If the MOT has run out, you can’t drive your vehicle on the road and can be prosecuted if caught, the only exceptions are:

1. To drive it to or from somewhere to be repaired
2. To a pre-arranged MOT Test Centre.

Our MOT test lane uses the latest equipment giving us the ability to test all makes and models of petrol and diesel cars and LCVs. If you drive a vehicle on the road you must keep it in a roadworthy condition. The MOT test, checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. You can renew your MOT up to one month before it expires. If your car fails an MOT at Shaw Street Garage, we always give you an estimate for the cost of repair. We are able to carry out any repairs in our garage saving the customer any inconvenience of removing the car to get work done elsewhere.

• All MOT retests are FREE within 10 working days.
• It’s important to note that an MOT Test isn’t the same as having your vehicle serviced, an MOT Test doesn’t check it’s general mechanical condition.
